I just purchased Railworks this weekend and have been playing around with it. I noticed there are decent amount of DLC addons listed in Steam for use with Railworks. I also noticed a decent number of freeware addons as well that can be downloaded on trainsim.com. Can anyone recommend any addons which they feel are really worth it to add to the sim? I tend to favor routes over tons of rolling stock as I am not necessarily a train buff but I do enjoy the simulation and getting a feel for different places as well as scenario challenges.
The Steam DLC seems a bit pricey which is why I prefer to ask peoples opinions on them before buying myself. Thanks for the help.

I am hoping for some advice please. I, and my grandson, have been using MSTS for a short time and enjoyed it. However he is more into modern trains and, on Youtube, saw a video of Dawlish with Cross country, HST and Class 70 goods trains all with a very realistic background. Also a West Coast line. Is this what Train Sim. gives and can you drive the trains as in MSTS but with better graphics and more modern locos.?
What version would he have to get and does he need add-ons or are they included?
Any advice would be most welcome but cost is an issue as he does not have too much spare cash as he is only 13!
